Here we are with a couple of 125 pound guys I've never heard of. Papazian trains with Rhonda Rousey, and Elliott is a FUCKING BEAST. That's all I know. Papazian landed one solid knee to the face while Elliott was on the ground early in the first round, which I thought almost stopped the fight. They let it continue though, and from that point forward, Elliott absolutely dominated Papazian for all 3 rounds. Good fight overall, especially for a 125 pound undercard fight.
Mike Rio is a beast! Cofer put up a good fight, and showed some really good striking skills, hitting Rio with some HARD punches, but really, the advantage in this fight was Rio's superior wrestling skills. He slammed Cofer a couple of times, took him down several times, completely outgrappled him on the ground, and went for tons of submission attempts, eventually finishing with a tight armbar late in the third round. Mike Rio looked awesome, and Cofer looked solid as well.
Hugo Viana is a badass! He's basically a 135 pound Vitor Belfort. He came out FAST, and swinging HUGE bombs, and after Duran spent most of the first round backing up, he eventually got smacked right across the jaw with a huge punch, and got KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT! I can't wait to see this guy fight again!
Technical Submission
(Triangle Choke)
This was a pretty great fight between two excellent Jiu-Jitsu guys. Catone had the strength, Waldburger had the technique. The first round definitely went to Catone, for his ability to wrestle and pressure Waldburger. The second round though, Waldburger came out like a bat out of hell, throwing fast punches, knocked Catone on his ass, and then locked on a triangle choke, putting him to sleep. Excellent show by both fighters.
(Suplex & Punches)
OH MY GOD! Rustam Khabilov is my new favorite fighter! He just went all Chris Benoit on Pichel, and German Suplexed him THREE TIMES in the first 2 minutes of the fight! And after that, he punched the fuck out of Pichel's face, knocking him unconscious. Khabilov is fucking brutal!!!
This was a pretty solid fight, and I was happy with the result. Johnny Bedford showed some pretty solid striking skills in the first round, as well as grappling defense, as he was able to escape a choke from Marcos. The second round, Marcos kicked him in the nuts, so we had a brief time out. Once the fight started back up again, Bedford unleashed a series of punches that knocked Marcos unconscious against the cage. Good solid fight.
(Knee & Punches)
This was a pretty decent filler fight. I didn't really care about it at all, but it was cool seeing Pyle beat up Head. Especially considering the fact that, it looked like Head almost had Pyle in trouble early in the round, but Pyle quickly turned the tables, and forced the referee to stop the fight due to strikes!
(Brabo Choke)
Shoot! This was a pretty great fight, but I wanted Brookins to win. Oh well, he looked great, and had solid striking & grappling skills, but he left his chin up in the air the entire time, and eventually nearly got knocked out. Once Poirier had him in trouble, he locked on a BEAUTIFUL D'Arce choke, and Brookins was forced to tap. Great showing by Poirier.
The first round was fine. Shane's Jiu-Jitsu was strong, but he never really put Barry in much trouble, but I still gave the first round to Shane. Barry then said "Oh hell no you didn't!" at which point, he came out swinging like a Behemoth, and he knocked Shane the fuck out, with some of the most BRUTAL heavyweight punches I've ever seen.
Whatever man... THIS was the TUF Championship? Whatever... Colton Smith basically controlled the entire fight, by taking Ricci to the ground and hugging him for 3 rounds. Did I mention that Colton also kicked Ricci SQUARE in the balls at the start of the second round, and I don't think Ricci was ever REALLY able to recover.
Roy Nelson is still fat, but he knocks people the fuck out, so it's all good. He's always fun to watch, and I'm glad that he beat Mitrione's ass. It looked like Mitrione was off to a good start with his head kicks and other hard striking skills, but you can't hurt Big Country!!!
