I watched these bonus prelim fights AFTER watching the actual event, and this sort of brought back a little bit more respect for Scott Morris... He grabbed Sean Daugherty by the neck in a guillotine style hold, and then did a backwards roll to takedown Daugherty, and forced him to tap out via choke once they landed on the ground... Solid fight for Scott Morris... Even though he gets dominated by Pat Smith in the second round of the tournament...

Ray Wizard was just some scrappy guy from South Central Los Angeles... He didn't really stand much of a chance against Pat Smith... Pat threw him around for a bit, kicked him a few times, I think he kneed him in the balls, and then eventually locked on a guillotine choke for the win... Pretty one-sided fight... Smith moves on to the next round from this prelim fight...

Yikes. This fight started with David Levicki hopping around the ring like a 275 rabbit on crack, throwing weird slap punches. Eventually, he was taken to the ground, and the rest of the fight had Rhodes caught in Levicki's guard. Rhodes also more or less lost his pants in this fight, so his ass was shining brightly at the camera for a good portion of this fight. The referee tried to pull his pants up, but was unable to succeed. Levicki threw a lot of slaps from the guard as well, but his slaps looked extremely weak for someone that weighs 275 pounds. After a fairly lengthy & boring fight, Rhodes finally finished the fight with some punches up against the cage on the ground. Pretty boring fight overall, but Levicki's left eye was EXTREMELY fucked up by the end of the fight, pouring an insane amount of blood onto the canvas.

This was an interesting fight. Hamaker slammed Luster a couple of times in this fight, using his Sambo skills, and once they were on the ground, Hamaker was practically strangling Luster. Luster on the other hand, had the tactic of pulling Hamaker's long hair, which surprisingly enough, didn't seem to help his case at all. Eventually, Hamaker went for an arm lock, and nearly ripped Luster's arm off, so Luster was forced to submit.

Robert "Fat Guy" Lucarelli came out looking like he was going to dominate the athletic Orlando Weit, with his submission grappling skills, but it turns out, he had nothing on Orlando Weit's knees & elbows... Orlando Weit almost killed Lucarelli by throwing sharp elbows down at the back of Lucarelli's head, right at the spine... It's no wonder Lucarelli hasn't fought in another MMA match since... (Orlando Weit on the other hand, has, and he's lost all of his fights, with a current record of 1-3)...

Remco Pardoel is a beast, but this fight was kind of boring. He basically took quite possibly the funniest man I've seen give a promo so far in the UFC, down to the ground early, and once they were on the ground, Pardoel took Leon to Jiu-Jitsu school, and just controlled Leon for 9 minutes, before finally finishing him with an arm lock of some sort, which we couldn't see, because all of the action happened underneath Pardoel's large body. But yeah, he wins, and moves on in the tournament.

Jason started this fight by pulling guard, and eventually revered positions so that he was in Baker's guard. He then went for a tight ankle lock, but wasn't able to finish the fight. They stood back up, and Baker took him to the ground, but DeLucia was able to get back on top in Baker's guard. They flipped back over, and DeLucia locked on a triangle choke. This was a decent grappling match overall, but in the end, Jason was able to finish it with, by rolling the triangle over, so that Jason was in a full mount triangle, and then he just told Baker "You need to tap out man, because I'm going to kill you, prepare to be destroyed, because you have no way to escape this, so before I rain down hell on your face, do yourself a favor, and submit..." So Baker tapped out after a couple of pitter patter punches. Pretty great fight by Jason DeLucia, and one of the most interesting triangle finishes I've seen.

Royce Gracie pretty much dominated this fight, which was easily predictable... Ichihara wanted to stand & strike, but was taken down in about 2 seconds... Then Royce just held on, while in the mount position, until eventually he locked on an ugly weak looking armbar or choke of some sort... I don't know why Ichihara really tapped... I think he basically just gave up because he knew he was going to lose... Anyways, Royce wins an easy fight...

This fight was pretty bad ass... Scott Morris came running out like a bull, and Smith took him down easily via weight distribution... Then Smith grabbed the full mount with eash, and started raining down punches & elbows until he eventually killed Scott Morris... I can't see Morris wanting to come back to fight again, after getting his ass beat like this... Fun fight to watch, but it ended up looking so painful, that I almost had to cover my face during the final 10 seconds of ass kicking or whatever... Pat Smith is pretty bad ass...

Fred Ettish is terrible, and he didn't stand a chance... He came out with the Karate stance, and then fell down and died... Johnny Rhodes was pounding away on Ettish, and looked like he pretty much killed him, but couldn't get Ettish to quit... So he eventually opened up a book in the middle of the octagon, and took a break while studying chokes, and then spent 5 minutes trying to apply the stupidest looking choke I've ever seen... Rhodes is a great striker, but his submission/grappling skills need a LOT of work... Still, Johnny Rhodes wins by submission, after dominating with strikes...

This match was silly... Orlando Weit dominated his fight earlier in the night (wasn't shown on the DVD in full), but they showed some clips from it, and he pretty much crushed his opponent... Remco Pardoel came into this fight at 260 pounds, and Orlando Weit was only 170 pounds, and he was a striker, meaning he didn't stand a chance... Remco did a nice Judo throw, to take Weit to the ground early in the fight, and then after laying on him for a while, he threw some back elbows to the side of Orlando's face, until he was eventually knocked out, and the corner threw in the towel... For some reason, the announcers seemed surprised by the outcome of this fight... I thought it was obvious that Remco would win...

Jason DeLucia didn't stand a chance in this fight... Royce pulled guard early in the fight, and then eventually locked an armbar on DeLucia, forcing DeLucia to tap out while standing up, and then I think Gracie ended up breaking his arm before the fight was over... Royce Gracie wins by submission...

Meh, I was expecting a lot from this fight, since both of these guys are great strikers... But it started out slow, both fighters dancing around, throwing weak shots... Then eventually, Pat Smith locked on a decent looking Guillotine, and won by submission... Johnny Rhodes tapped out, by tapping his foot against the floor, that was kind of funny...

Well, I was saying that Remco's win over Weit was obvious, because of the size difference, but Gracie had the same exact size disadvantage, and he dominated Pardoel... He grabbed Pardoel's back while standing, pulled him to the ground, and then choked out Remco Pardoel with his own Gi... Royce Gracie is a bad ass... He made Pardoel look like the big retarded kid in school... I felt bad for him actually... Gracie wins by submission, and moves on to the finals...

Pat Smith came out cautious, and he really thought he was going to be able to put a beating on Royce... Well, Royce once again, took Pat Smith to the ground with ease, and then started working for a submission, but instead, forced Pat Smith to tap out by punching him with straight punches to the face... It looked like it hurt like hell, and there was no way that Pat was going to be able to get out... Pat Smith got dominated, and once again, Royce Gracie is the UFC Tournament Champion...
