This was one of the worst fights I've seen in a while. It lasted all 3 rounds, consisted of 3 takedowns (all executed by Clifford Starks), some lackluster striking on the feet, and two fighters that I've never heard of. The fight went to Clifford Starks via unanimous decision which I agreed with, but neither fighter looks ready for the UFC at all.

This was another relatively meaningless undercard fight. The most exciting element was the fact that GSP was in the corner of Carmont. The first round was boring, but I gave the slight edge to Carmont due to a tackedown. He had a huge slam in the second round and started turning up the heat, and I was going to give the third round to him as well, but Camozzi locked on a kimura at the end of the round, and Carmont was saved by the bell. Any way you look at it, Francis Carmont was the clear winner via unanimous decision.

Ramsey Nijem looked awesome in this fight, completely swarming Downes, smothering him on the ground, grappling the living fuck out of him, he mounted his back multiple times, he was going for submissions, he was beating him up on the ground, in the end, Nijem just absolutely dominated Downes, and looked incredible. So yeah, good fight for Nijem, not so much for Downes.

This fight was a decent scrap, where I thought Vera won the first two rounds, but they were pretty close. Marshall really pulled some shit out of his ass in the third round, and beat the living fuck out of Vera, and almost finished him with an armbar. Vera looked decent at first, but he really needs to work on his cardio a bit, because he always seems to slow down drastically in the third round, but either way, even though I think Marshall did more damage, and looked better once the fight was over, I guess based on UFC rules, Vera wins by pulling off two of the rounds in his favor.

This fight was badass. Actually, the fight kind of sucked at first, because it was basically Bart throwing a few punches here & there, and Griffin just looking like he was bored & about to fall asleep (he cut a LOT of weight for this fight). The fight ended with Palaszewski going psycho on Griffin though, with some old school Wanderlei Silva style punch combinations up against the cage, leaving Griffin crumbled on the floor, looking up from the referee's shoes. Palaszewski looked amazing in his UFC debut!

This was a fun quick fight. Dennis Siver looked like he had some pretty solid boxing skills at first, but the reach of Cerrone proved to be a problem for him, as Cerrone almost knocked him out early in the first round. Siver tried to hang in there by pinning Cerrone against the cage, but eventually, Cerrone almost knocked him out again, and then finished him off with a rear-naked choke. Really impressive win by Donald Cerrone.

This was a pretty close fight for the most part. Hatsu Hioki was clearly the better wrestler, Roop was probably the better striker, and there was decent back & forth action, but this fight wasn't that exciting for me. In the end, I scored the fight as a tie, the judges gave it to Hioki by split-decision, and the crowd gave that a big boo, I personally cheered though, because if either of them should have won, I'd say it was probably Hioki.

This fight was some bullshit. Great fight, but I have no idea how they came up with the decision going in favor of Jorgensen. Curran proved to have FAR superior jiu-jitsu during the entire fight, I thought he threw better, cleaner strikes. The only thing Jorgensen had going for him was cool hair & solid wrestling. So yeah, I disagree with this decision, but I got my pick in the Hioki fight, so I guess I'll just leave it alone for now.

Every time Cro-Cop goes out to fight, I PRAY that he'll beat the shit out of the guy that he's up against, and EVERY TIME I'm disappointed by the results. In this fight, Cro-Cop ended up getting his ass kicked in the third round, but he got pretty crazy at a few spots in the first 2 rounds. In the end, Big Country Roy Nelson proved to be too fat for Cro-Cop to handle, and he exhausted Cro-Cop by flopping his belly onto his face while on the ground for a little bit too long. I guess this was Cro-Cop's final fight?

This fight was kind of cool, and kind of sucked. The first round was a lot of standing around wasting time by both fighters. I gave it to Kongo due to better strikes. I gave the second round to Mitrione, because he really started to turn up the heat at the end of the second round, and I THOUGHT he would come back out and beat Kongo in the third. Instead, Kongo slammed Mitrione multiple times in the third round, beat him up, completely destroyed him, and won the unanimous decision. Solid fight by Kongo, and solid fight for Mitrione if it wasn't for his slow start.

This entire fight, I was rooting for Nick Diaz, because I don't like BJ Penn. The problem is, after the fight was over, I think BJ Penn just retired? If that's the case, it's kind of sad, he REALLY looked defeated. It was a hell of a fight though, Diaz's boxing is second to none, and BJ Penn's chin is ridiculous. Great fight by both fighters, and I definitely think Nick Diaz deserves the next title shot against GSP.
