It was hard not to feel sorry for Jennum in this fight... Tank started the fight by taking Jennum to the ground with ease, and then he scooted on over to the fence, until Jennum's head was pressed against the fence, and Tank was still on top... That was when Tank shoved his own head against the head of Jennum, and basically crushed his skull between Tank's head & the cage... Steve Jennum was forced to tap fairly quickly, and Tank moves on to the next round of the tournament...

This fight was basically a mirror image of the first fight (Tank vs. Jennum)... Varelans started the fight, with a lame low kick attempt, and was quickly knocked off balance & taken to the ground by Dan Severn... Severn then spent a little over a minute or so, trying to apply a choke of some sort, which eventually forced Varelans to tap out... So Dan Severn moves on to fight Tank Abbott in the semi-finals, and they both appear to be 100% unscathed...

This fight was pretty awesome... The fight started with a few leg kicks going back & forth (both fighters throwing them), and then Ruas grabbed Hackney's back, reached around and squeezed his boobs with what appeared to be claws, and then took Hackney to the ground... After a bit of wrestling (Ruas on Hackney's back), Ruas eventually locked on the rear naked choke for the submission victory... Marco Ruas is a bad man!!!

This fight was kind of crazy... Basically ended the same way as the first 2 fights of the night, but with an extra level of technical skill... Both fighters locked up while standing for a few seconds, and then Oleg Taktarov unleashed a head-first dive, grabbing onto Beneteau's leg on the way down, and then he locked on a leg submission of some sort... After trying to battle out of it, Beneteau eventually collapsed, and was forced to tap out... He tried to kick Taktarov in the face before tapping (which was illegal, since he was wearing shoes), but he tapped out immediately afterwards, so the fight ended via submission instead of DQ...

Well... Dan Severn started the fight by trying to take Tank to the ground, but Tank showed some good sprawling, and then followed that up with some knees to Severn's head... Severn was soon able to take Tank to the ground though, and kept him pinned against the cage (Tank was face down on the mat) for around 10 minutes or so... Severn tried a couple of times to choke out Abbott, and he punched him, threw some hard elbows & knees, etc... Basically what this fight proved, was that Severn's "finishing skills" are very limited... He's a great wrestler (obviously) but he's not very good with strikes, and he's probably "mediocre" at submissions... Tank took a lot of punishment, but didn't seem phased...
Ok, so yeah... I wrote that previous paragraph after about 10 minutes of fighting, because I figured the fight would change, and I didn't want to forget any details... But yeah, the fight lasted 20 minutes (went to decision), and the entire fight had Severn on top of Tank's back, pounding away with sloppy strikes, and uh, yeah... The fight went to decision, and Dan Severn won unanimously... Tank didn't really stand a chance (because he couldn't get Severn off his back), but it's REALLY impressive that Tank hung in there for the entire 20 minute fight... Good show by both fighters, for different reasons... Dan Severn moves on to the finals...

This fight was a pretty good scrap... They both brought the fight to each other, Marco Ruas seemed to win the first half of the fight (10 minutes), and Oleg Taktarov won the last half of the fight... The real difference maker was when Taktarov locked on a guillotine choke and held it for a couple of minutes, almost putting away Ruas, before the referee decided to randomly break it up for some reason (I guess lack of action?) Even though Ruas was caught in a submission... The point is, the fight went to a decision, and Oleg Taktarov won unanimously...

This was a 33 minute fight, with about 5-10 minutes worth of action... Normally that would get a poor rating from me, but seeing as how both of these guys had to fight through 20 minute fights in the semi-finals, it's VERY impressive that they could still keep fighting for another 33 minutes here... Overall, these guys each fought for nearly an hour during this event... So yeah, I give this fight high praise, simply because of the heart & endurance that these 2 fighters displayed (even though they were exhausted as soon as they started the fight)... The fight wasn't very eventful though, so I'm going to wrap this up by saying Dan Severn won by unanimous decision...
