David Ortiz just made his UFC debut, and it was supposed to be sort of a big deal, and I guess he did a decent job, but I almost fell asleep during this fight to be honest. I mean, Jose Maria Tome started sort of strong & aggressive, but he got tired quickly, and by the third round, Ortiz found himself in full mount, throwing punches to the back of Tome's dome, and the referee stopped the fight, giving Ortiz the win via TKO. I mean, decent debut, I guess? Whatever...

This was a nice win for Adriano Martins. He basically took Cruickshank down in the first round, and almost finished him with an armbar / kimura near the end of the round. The second round was more of the same, until Martins eventually DID finish the fight, with the straight armbar. Nice submission skills, he sort of reminds me of a 155 pound Demian Maia.

Thiago Tavares is good. I don't recall ever really caring about Justin Salas though. In this fight, Tavares clearly wanted to take it to the ground, he eventually picked up Salas and slammed him, he got on his back, he locked on the rear-naked choke, and Salas tapped out about halfway through the first round. Good win for Thiago Tavares.

I love these Russian guys man! They fight so crazy! But yeah, Perpetuo was kind of kicking Akhmedov's ass for a good portion of the fight, but eventually, Akhmedov got on his back, and almost locked on a rear-naked choke. They eventually stood back up, Akhmedov looked rocked, and then he knocked out Perpetuo with a couple of weird punches. Kind of a clumsy ending to an otherwise good fight, but yeah, Omari Akhmedov looks pretty legit, and I look forward to seeing him fight again soon.

This fight was pretty quick. The fight went to the ground at some point, Sicilia cornered Castro against the cage at some point, he threw a few big punches, and the fight was stopped. Good win for Sam Sicilia, but for such a quick stoppage, it wasn't very exciting.

BOOM! This was pretty awesome. After watching Stephens beat the bloody shit out of Estevan Payan for 15 minutes back at UFC 160, without being able to finish the fight, I wasn't really sure what to expect here, especially since I consider Rony to be a Top 10 Fighter in this weight class, but BAAAAAAAAM, in 40 seconds, Stephens landed a HUGE kick to the head, Rony fell like a sack of bricks, Stephens launched a diving punch that crushed Rony's head between his fist & the cage, and that's all she wrote. Jeremy Stephens looked awesome in this fight!

This doesn't seem like a very important fight, since it was only LaFlare's second fight in the UFC, and it was Santiago's UFC debut. With that being said, it was actually a really good fight overall. LaFlare is a hell of a wrestler with a solid grasp on Jiu-Jitsu, and Santiago put up a pretty decent fight, but in the end, it was pretty clear that LaFlare won all 3 rounds, so even though he's not Brazilian, the judges couldn't overlook his skills in this fight. Good fight overall.

HOLY SHIT. Brandon Thatch, in his UFC debut DESTROYED Justin Edwards, and became one of my new favorite fighters. Here he is in his second UFC fight, and he beat the shit out of Paulo Thiago, forcing him to collapse on the ground due to a BRUTAL knee to the ribs, which caused Thiago to immediately start tapping out. Brandon Thatch's striking might be some of the most dangerous I've seen at 170. I can't wait to see this guy face some Top 10 Fighters.

DAMN! That was pretty brutal! Pokrajac came out swinging, looking like he wanted to turn this into a brawl early, but that was apparently a bad idea, because once Cavalcante locked on the clinch, he started throwing brutal knees, which caused Pokrajac to crumble up into a ball on the ground, tapping out. Second fight in a row, ended via tapout due to strikes? Pretty crazy night!

I wasn't really into this fight at all, and I'm not real clear why this was the second to last fight on the card. Considering the fact that the vast majority of the fights tonight ended pretty quickly, I shouldn't complain about a fight that went all 15 minutes, but whatever. I gave the first round to Sarafian, mostly for having good movement. Ferreira took him down several times in the second round, so I gave that round to him. The third round was kind of close, but again, I gave it to Ferreira, mostly because he was strangling Sarafian at the end of the round, trying to finish the fight. So yeah, decent fight I guess, but whatever.

Well... That was something... They circled each other (without touching either other) for about a minute, and then Henderson moved in, randomly slipped or something, he looked like he was half asleep for no apparent reason, Vitor kicked him in the head, with a loud *CRACK* sound, Henderson fell back down, the referee basically tackled both of them to stop the fight, and Henderson was just looking at him like "What's going on? Why did you stop the fight?" I don't know what to think about this to be honest. Vitor is (basically) on steroids, and has won 3 fights in a row, after losing to the champ, Jon Jones, about a year ago, and this makes 3 losses in a row for Henderson, so I'm not even clear why he's still fighting to be honest. Shitty, weird main event, to an otherwise fantastic card.
