This was a pretty scrappy opening fight. Mitch Clarke won the first round easily, by completely controlling Kuivanen on the ground. The second round was almost dead even, with Kuivanen really trying to make up for his shortcomings in the first round. The third round was 100% Kuivanen, completely destroying Clarke, and if the fight would have gone another minute, I think he might have been able to finish Clarke. In the end, two of the judges gave the fight to Kuivanen, and I agreed.

I've always been a big fan of the quick fights, because it makes my job easier. Antonio Carvalho's striking looked crisp in this fight (much improved over previous fights), and after landing a big right hook to the jaw of Pineda, he was able to punch him a few more times, forcing the referee to stop the fight. Excellent showing by Antonio Carvalho.

This was a pretty good fight. The first round was almost all in favor of Mitch Gagnon, as he was slamming Caraway, and completely dominating him on the ground, he made Caraway almost look like an amateur, but Caraway was able to earn some points later in the round by getting on top. The second round, Gagnon looked exhausted, and Caraway basically kicked his ass. The third round, Caraway took him to the ground, got on his back, covered his mouth with his hand, the exhausted Gagnon removed Caraway's hand, but wasn't quick enough to defend the rear-naked choke that followed. Good showing by Caraway, and Gagnon looked good in the first round at least.

This was a pretty badass fight. I mean, it wasn't really a fight, Jimmo punched Perosh once, Perosh collapsed, Jimmo punched him in the face again on the ground (after he was already knocked out), and the referee stopped the fight. Jimmo ties the UFC record for fastest knockout (7 seconds), and then he spent the rest of his TV time, doing the robot. This is an amusing guy, I just hope that it wasn't a fluke.

Francisco Rivera's striking is pretty amazing. Delorme kept trying to move in on him, but Rivera was able to counter PERFECTLY the entire first round, pretty much making Delorme look like he had no idea what he was doing while standing. In the end, Rivera knocked him out, and Delorme never stood a chance. Rivera is one of the best 135 pound strikers I've ever seen!

What was that shit? Court McGee destroyed Nick Ring in the third round, so I felt he should have won the fight. The Canadian crowd disagreed though, and gave the fight to their hometown guy, Nick Ring. Whatever... I guess it could have gone either way, the first 2 rounds were kind of close, but Nick Ring got SMASHED in the third round, so that decision was fucked up.

I didn't really care about this fight at all going into it, I remember Matthew Riddle from the Ultimate Fighter, but I wasn't really familiar with Chris Clements. One thing was clear in this fight, Riddle was the superior grappler, taking Clements down whenever he wanted & completely controlling him on the ground, but when they were on their feet, Clements looked like he had the potential to be dangerous. After Riddle won the first 2 rounds with his grappling skills, he was able to lock on a beautiful standing arm-triangle choke about halfway through the third round, he took Clements to the ground with it, and Clements was forced to tap. Great fight by Matthew Riddle.

I went into this fight not really giving a shit about either of these guys. Brian Ebersole ended up being amusing, because apparently he has a rubber neck that is impossible to choke? James Head on the other hand didn't do anything special at all in this fight, other than maybe be slightly more aggressive on the feet, as well as block 99% of Ebersole's takedown attempts. In the end, this fight was a waste of 15 minutes of my life. Head wins via split decision.

This fight was crap. So far this entire event has been boring. Shawn Jordan is a big dude, but other than trying to press Kongo up against the cage, he didn't really do much of anything in this fight (other than elbow Kongo in the balls in the first round). Kongo on the other hand, is also a big dude, who tried to strike some, but for the most part, he just looked tired & bored. This fight sucked. Kongo wins via unanimous decision.

This card fucking sucks! I've been looking forward to seeing Hector Lombard in the UFC ever since the good ol' PRIDE days. Well, he's finally here, and he's supposed to be "close to" the #1 contender spot to fight Anderson Silva for the title, but WHAT THE FUCK? This fight was slow, boring, and neither fighter really seemed to bring much to the table. In the end, I gave the fight to Hector Lombard, but the judges gave the fight to Tim Boetsch via split-decision. I have to admit though, I might have given him the fight based partially on hype. If that's the case, I apologize, either way, this fight sucked.

That was a main event title fight? Seriously? The UFC is falling apart here... Urijah Faber looked way too timid the entire fight, and didn't do anything. Renan Barao is supposed to be an insane animal, and he had a few solid combinations, but for a 25 minute fight, there really weren't enough exciting moments to keep this interesting. In the end, Renan Barao wins the (interim) championship, and I guess he'll be fighting Dominick Cruz eventually. Oh boy...
